Meet the Women of the Vacation Rental Industry: Bri Pope

Brianne Pope, Head of Community Programs at Rent Responsibly, shares how coming into her own informed her career in our women in the VRM industry series.

So, ya’all… we just got back from the Vacation Rental Women’s Summit, and it was sooooo amazing that we are going to now catch up with the women in our industry to learn more about their journey and passion for the vacation rental space, let’s learn more about Bri!

About Rent Responsibly:

Rent Responsibly is the community building and education platform for local short-term rental alliances. Our tools and alliance management services equip local leaders to build successful, self-sustaining organizations of short-term rental hosts, managers, and all other stakeholders. We make it easy for leaders and members to connect, collaborate, solve common challenges, advocate for themselves, steward their communities, and rent responsibly.

About Bri:

My north star is helping others. My talent is rooted in creating and maintaining successful relationships with partners, vendors, and my own teammates. I focus my energy on anything that allows me to use my extroversion (ENFP here) and creativity to assist partners with their needs.

My goal, above all else, in any position, is to support my team, assist our partners and end-users, and successfully generate results.

Please reach out if you want to talk business… or music. We can always talk music.

Let’s Learn More about Bri!

How did you begin your career in the vacation rental industry?

I started my career in the short-term rental industry working as the Director of Client Engagement for TruPlace Visual Solutions. Now I head up Community Programs for Rent Responsibly!

What was your experience as a female-identifying person (FIP) then vs now?

It was a new decade when I started in the STR industry. Prior to the STR industry, I had worked in environments that were male dominated, and that sometimes caused me to minimize pieces of myself that I now view as assets. Now, I’m more comfortable in my own skin, my observations, my creativity, and my ideas. They are so valuable in my current position!

Who mentored you and your career? Were there FIP’s in leadership roles around you?

The first two mentors that come to mind are Suzi Cusack and Melanie Wynne, who are the cornerstones of TruPlace. Their work ethic, diplomacy, and ability to bring together a team consistently made me a better person and always made me want to level up! Now that I work for Rent Responsibly, I am so proud to say that I work with some of the most amazing women in the STR industry. Alexa Nota, Dana Lubner, Abbi Booth, Jenna Fuhrman, and Paris Achen consistently remind me every day how lucky I am to stand beside them as we embark on this critical mission. Their drive and passion are infectious. I consider all of them my mentors because I learn something new from them every day.

What is your advice for FIP’s looking to grow their career in the VRM industry?

Take every opportunity you have to network with other women in the industry. This community is full of powerhouse women. Their stories—professional and personal—can help you learn, grow, and manifest your best self. I spent a lot of time trying to twist myself into a pretzel for the sake of keeping up appearances, and I think as women we spend a lot of time feeling like we’re not enough. If I could leave you with anything, it’s the message that you ARE enough. You are a specific special prototype and there is no one else like you, so embrace who you are, lean into it, celebrate it, and surround yourself with people who see that special light in you, too.
